Suffering is unnecessary, but still extremely natural

Suffering is unnecessary, but still extremely natural. Nothing to be embarrassed about.

This can be difficult, especially in spiritual circles if suffering is downplayed a lot. Imagine a 4 year old crying desperately because his toy broke. “It’s just a toy!” True.

The crying is unnecessary, but still extremely natural. The suffering is very real for him. Our reassurances might sound like invalidating her suffering. She might feel guilty to cry.

Acceptance is often confused with validating and ‘making it real’. Denial/bypassing is confused with ‘seeing its illusory nature’
